HINTS AND TIPS TO HELP YOU QUIT SMOKING PREPARING TO STOP

Keep a Smokers Diary.
Only smoke your own cigarettes or tobacco
The evening before you quit, have your last.
You are now a non-smoker
If you are offered a cigarette or cigar say. “I don’t smoke”.
Take one day at a time, don’t worry about the future.
IN THE EARLY DAYS
Avoid temptation. Put lighters, and ashtrays out of sight.
Keep away from smokers as much as possible,
Have a supply of things to nibble, suck or chew e.g. Fruit, sugarless gum, carrots etc.
Be careful at tea breaks or meal times. These are danger times. Try to avoid sweets, cakes and biscuits.
Sip a glass of water.
Keep busy. Clean out the cupboards. Do all those jobs you’ve been meaning to do.
Take up a new hobby.
Do a little more exercise. Take the dog for walks. Go swimming.
Put money aside each day. Treat yourself with what you save.
Learn to relax without smoking. Try slow deep breathing.
NEVER GIVE IN not even for just one cigarette.
